The Most Iconic Cars To Hit The Silver Screen
We all love slick, fast, beautiful cars, and what better way to enjoy one than watching two cars handle twists and turns as they battle it out during a high speed chase which inevitably ends in a glorious explosion? We’re talking about the movies of course! The right car can really add a special touch to a flick and make it much more enjoyable. Here are a couple of the most iconic and legendary cars to ever grace the movies.
Aston Martin DB5 “GoldFinger”- This gorgeous luxury car has made an impressive appearance in both “Goldfinger” and “Thunderball”. The actual DB5 model that was driven by Sean Connery was just recently purchased at a London auction in October 2010 at the extravagant price of $4.6 million by a collector. The engine is 4.0 Liters and is able to reach top speeds of up to 145 mph.
Ford Coupe-“American Graffiti”- A 1932 bright yellow Ford coupe made a notable appearance in the final racing scene in the American classic movie “American Graffiti”. The impressive ride comes well equipped with a powerful 3.6 Liter eight cylinder engine and puts out 60 horsepower. This movie appearance only acted to solidify Ford’s reputation as a historic and iconic American brand.
Delorean DMC 12-“Back ToThe Future”- This vehicle achieves the impossible and breaks the laws of quantum physics. In the movie the DMC is able to travel back in time when hitting speeds of 88 mph. In our book, that makes the Delorean one of the hippest cars ever.
Mustang GT-“Bullitt”-The 1968 Mustang GT made an unforgettable appearance in the movie “Bullitt”, which was released in 1968. This car was powerful for its time and it’s still powerful by today's standards! Boasting a V8 engine with 325 HP, this sleek ride had a major role in an intense seven minite car chase scene.
Ford Edge-“Quantum Of Solace” - You know a car is slick and sophisticated when the man behind the wheel is no other than Mr. Bond. The environmentally conscious Ford Edge (Hydrogen Fuel Cell) was driven by the dashing Mr. Bond himself in the Blockbuster movie “Quantum of Solace”.
Bumblebee-“Transformers ”- Who can’t help but feel fuzzy inside when you hear the name Bumblebee? Bumblebee is a bright yellow Camaro with bold black stripes who also doubles overtime as an “Autobot”. Bumblebee was involved in a real-life car crash when it was slammed in the side by a SUV police cruiser in Washington DC. For movie lovers who want to own a piece of Bumblebee, Chevrolet offers a Transformers Special Edition appearance package with comes with an Autobot shield and the Transformer logo on the door’s sill plates.
All of these cars have become infamous and touched popular culture by their appearance in the movies. Most people don’t give the automobiles they see in flicks much thought, but in some cases, these vehicles have gone on to become bigger stars than the actors! These legendary cars are stars in their own right!

Breeders’ Cup is a bigger deal than many realize (feeds.bizjournals)
In 1988, the Breeders’ Cup World Championships were held at Churchill Downs
for the first time. That also was the year I started working for Business
First. And my role then put me in charge of special publications. We published
a slick, four-color Breeders’ Cup magazine that year in addition to the annual
Kentucky Derby magazine that was a Business First mainstay for more than two
decades. Editing the copy for those magazines taught me a lot about the
Thoroughbred horse-racing industry. I accompanied Business First photographer
Ron Bath on several journeys to the Bluegrass area where Thoroughbred horse
farms are a mainstay industry...
