Advice On Boating Around The World
Perhaps you have just finished college and are ready to spread your wings, or having a mid-life crisis and needing to get out of the country. Whatever the case, travelling the world by boat can be incredibly rewarding and a more ‘authentic’ experience than more common methods. In fact, boat travel came well before any other method, but its popularity has steadily dwindled to the point where nobody really knows how any more. For anyone with desire to give it a shot, here are some important things to know.
Higher Costs. There was a period where boat travel cost very little, but as fewer people use this method now it has forced costs upwards again. There are certainly some good deals out there to be had, but largely boat travel is more expensive than alternative methods. That's not to say it worth be worth the cost though as you'll get so much more out of it. Also, if you are coming back the same way, boat owners and liners such as Silversea cruises often offer discounts for return trips.
Expect Small Vessels. Depending on where you are going you may get a few larger boats and luxury cruises to enjoy. However, most areas of real interest when you are traveling will be accessible only by moving onto smaller and more agile boats. This should be thought of as an enhancement to your travels though rather than a sacrifice and smaller boats can often get to the best places and are the most fun.
Listen To Locals. Unless you are happy just seeing the very touristy areas of a country and not exploring further, you should really take on board what the locals advise. Almost all of them benefit from the money they get from visitors and so they are motivated to show them the top locations and share insider knowledge so they will return again. They will know the best routes and the best boats to travel on and you will likely see sites that other tourists can only dream of.

How long should I wait after shock treating my pool to add pH minus?
Here's my results:
Total harness-200
Chlorine-1
pH-7.8
Total alkanlinity-180 or 240 (couldn't tell for sure)
Cyanuric acid-30-50
My pool is really cloudy. I discovered that the filter was dirty so I rinsed it off. What should I do?
Hardness and Cyanuric are good.
First is to get your Total Alkalinity down to 100ppm
Then get your pH down to 7.4
Then add your shock. Chlorine is twice as effective at 7.4 pH than at 7.8 pH. And Alkalinity is the key to good water balance. After water clears run all tests and clean the filter again.
If it's a cartridge filter, just run it non-stop after you've done the chemical. If a DE filter you obviously have to recharge with DE first, then run non-stop.
