What kind of insect is this?
It was on my front door. It has a stinger and it flew away after a few pictures (sorry about the picture quality, it was taking on my phone). He kind of looked like a spider/grasshopper/hornet/bee. I only have pictures of the underside of him. I was not going to even try to get close to him. He was about as big as both of my thumbs put together. My friend was going to go outside but there were several more on the door frame when you first open the door and he quickly decided different.
The pictures:

You can kind of see that he has a stinger + wings + 6 legs + what looks like horns + about the size of two thumbs.
Thank you!!
Its hard to tell for lots of reasons, but it looks like one of the potter wasps or mason wasps. If you had a clear picture of its top and told us where you are in the world, then maybe there is a chance of identifying it. Here is a BUNCH of pictures of potter/mason wasps (subfamily Eumeninae). Good luck!
